Lobo or Laiya
The comparison most people are actually making. We maintain the Lobo side, so here is the case against it as well as for it.
Choose Laiya, in San Juan, if you want white sand, developed beach resorts and easy facilities. Choose Lobo if you want a quiet pebble coast, reef you can snorkel from shore, a Spanish-era lighthouse and far fewer people, and you can live without resort infrastructure.

Pick Laiya if
You are travelling with people who want to swim off sand, you want a room booked through a familiar platform, and you would rather not think about whether there is an ATM. Laiya is the easier weekend.
Pick Lobo if
You want reef within wading distance, you care about seeing a working 1896 lighthouse, and quiet is the point. Come knowing the shore is pebble, services are thin, and the road in is slow.

- Is Lobo or Laiya better?
- They are different trips. Laiya in San Juan has white sand, developed resorts and crowds. Lobo has pebble beaches, living reef close to shore, a Spanish-era lighthouse and very little infrastructure. Choose Laiya for a sandy resort weekend and Lobo for quiet and snorkelling.
- Does Lobo have white sand like Laiya?
- No. Laiya's beaches are sandy. Lobo's are pebble and rock. Any source describing Lobo as a white-sand destination is mistaken.
- Which is closer to Manila, Lobo or Laiya?
- Both are roughly a three to four hour drive. Laiya is reached via San Juan on the eastern Batangas coast; Lobo is reached via Batangas City and a slower mountain road.
