Olo-Olo mangrove
A protected mangrove forest with a boardwalk, in Barangay Olo-Olo, and one of Lobo's four local conservation areas.
The Olo-Olo mangrove is a protected coastal forest in Barangay Olo-Olo, Lobo, Batangas, with a timber boardwalk running through it. It forms part of the Lobo Mangrove Conservation Area and adjoins the Sawang and Olo-Olo Fish Sanctuary and Refuge Area on the Verde Island Passage. Access is from the coastal road; opening hours and any fee are pending verification.
Why mangroves matter here
Mangrove stands stabilise the shoreline, trap sediment before it reaches the reef, and act as nursery habitat for the fish that make the Verde Island Passage what it is. The conservation area and the adjoining fish sanctuary are managed together for that reason.
Visiting
The boardwalk is a short, flat walk, suitable for most visitors, and best in the morning before the heat. Bring insect repellent. Swimming is not the point here; for that, see the beaches and diving and snorkelling. The site fits naturally into the second morning of a two-day Lobo trip.
